The Cartaia is a little hamlet in the Val di Bisenzio born in the Middle ages on a water-mill plant, it turned into a paper-mill in the middle of XIV century. At the beginning of XX century was built the Alimo Sbraci's wool factory, today replaced by other textile installations.
